6 cloves garlic
1 kilograms minced lamb
2 tablespoon tomato puree
1 inch cinnamon stick
3 long aubergines
100 gm flour
100 gm parmesan cheese
2 egg
salt as required

                               How to make Moussaka

  • Step 1

Start by pre-heating the oven at 200 degree Celsius. Place a large frying pan over medium flame and pour oil in it. Once the oil is hot enough, chop the onions and garlic and saute them for 2-3 minutes. Now, add the minced lamb and fry on medium flame for 4-5 minutes. Once the pieces are fried well, transfer to a separate bowl and turn off the flame.

  • Step 2

In the same pan, pour red wine, tomato puree, chopped tomatoes, cinnamon and oregano. Let it simmer for 20-25 minutes and stir occasionally. Meanwhile, slice the aubergines and brush some olive oil over it. Fry them in a separate pan until the slices turn brown in color.

  • Step 3

Lay these fried aubergines on the base of a glass bowl. Pour the sauce prepared in the second step over these fried aubergines discarding the cinnamon stick and keep it aside.

  • Step 4

Melt the butter in a pan over medium flame and add flour to it. Cook for a minute and then gradually add milk until the mixture turns thick. Let it simmer for a while. Now, add cheese and nutmeg to it along with some salt.

  • Step 5

Remove the pan from the flame and let it cool. Beat the eggs in the mixture and mix properly. Pour this topping over the minced lamb, slide it in the oven and bake for 30-35 minutes. Your moussaka is now ready to be served.
